Postosuchus lived a very long time ago, as many as 220 million years back. He lived at the same time as the first dinosaurs, yet Postosuchus is not actually a dinosaur. He belongs to the rauisuchian, a type of prehistoric predator that looked a bit like a crocodile with long legs. Postosuchus got its name because it was found near the town of Post in Texas. Postosuchus had a large head with strong teeth with which it grabbed its prey. His skin had thick scales or plates, like armor. He was probably one of the most dangerous predators of his time. Postosuchus surprised his prey by creeping silently and then attacking quickly. He had large eyes and probably a super good sense of smell, so he could easily find his prey.
The bones of Postosuchus were first found in 1920, but then researchers thought it was a dinosaur.
Postosuches could walk on two legs, just like some dinosaurs.
