New residents: yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys at AquaZoo Friesland!
During the Christmas vacations, visitors can admire new residents at AquaZoo Friesland. Earlier than expected, the indoor enclosure of the yellow-chested capuchin monkeys, part of a complete renovation of the indoor area, has been completed. A group of yellow-chested capuchin monkeys, originating from DierenPark Amersfoort, will move into their brand new indoor enclosure tomorrow. And that will be celebrated with all kinds of fun monkey cage activities during the Christmas vacations!
Seriously endangered species
In the wild, yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys are under serious threat due to hunting and habitat disappearance. To preserve this species, the European Breeding Program (EEP) has been established and AquaZoo Friesland is taking in a group of three young males as part of this effort.
Close friendships
Yellow-breasted capuchins are characterized by their yellow breast, shoulders and belly. The three young yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys are very social animals and active from morning to night. Visitors are likely to see them regularly flea each other: yellow-breasted capuchins do this not only to clean each other up, but the fleaing creates close friendships.
Monkey cages at AquaZoo Friesland!
To celebrate the arrival of the yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys, AquaZoo Friesland has organized a variety of extra activities during the Christmas vacations. For example, around the yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys' enclosure, children can monkey cages on and in various climbing and play equipment.
