AquaZoo challenges schools to design a sand sculpture

Elementary schools in Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe can participate in a creative challenge from AquaZoo: designing their own sand sculpture. The competition is part of the event Sand & Zoo, which is currently taking place at the park. The class with the most beautiful artwork will win a school trip for the entire school to AquaZoo.

AquaZoo likes to challenge children to work together and create their own works of art outside in nature. The assignment? Create a spectacular sand sculpture in the school's sandbox and submit the photo by May 31 to evenementen@aquazoo.nl stating "Elementary Schools Design Competition Sand & Zoo." The most beautiful masterpiece will win a free school trip to AquaZoo for the entire school.

Jeroen Loomeijer, general manager of AquaZoo, is hoping for many entries. "With this, we want to encourage children to play, learn and have fun outdoors. What could be more fun than being creative outdoors? Therefore, we hope for many enthusiastic participants from the region."

Sand & Zoo

AquaZoo Leeuwarden is temporarily transformed into a sand Walhalla during the Sand & Zoo event, with several meter-high sand sculptures of animals in the park. The works of art were created by (inter)national artists in collaboration with We Love Sand. Children can work on their own in a large sandbox or participate in a scavenger hunt.
